I recently found myself sitting in a room full of successful women, being asked a question that stopped me in my tracks: “Are you actually passionate about doors?” And the truth is, I’m not. In today’s episode of Found-Her, I’m sharing with you what I am actually passionate about: people, their growth, their ability to change their story, and the opportunity to build wealth and legacy in a way that impacts future generations.

So I’m bringing you into that question: what are you actually passionate about, and are you unintentionally limiting your growth by tying that passion too tightly to the wrong model? I share how separating passion from execution has been key in building a scalable, legacy-driven business, and why you don’t have to sacrifice revenue to stay connected to what lights you up. If this episode hits, I want to hear from you. Send me a DM @Kimberley.Hiebert on Instagram and let’s chat.

Welcome to Found Her, the podcast for women who build empires, break barriers, and blaze trails all while fighting themselves. These are bestie level conversations from behind the scenes. The real work, the messy middle, and the wind that last. I'm Kimberly Hebert, founder, franchise builder, wife, mom, and Grammy, and a woman who has done the inner work while building the outer winds. Here we talk business, identity relationships, and the kind of growth that cracks you open, then puts you back together. Stronger, better. This is your space to rise as a founder and as your truest self. Let's dive in. Hey besties. Oh, it feels like it's been a bit since I've been behind the microphone. So much has been going on. I'm really excited just to jump on today and share some thoughts that have been swirling since I attended an event uh last week. And so I attended the Hi-Fi Women's event. So some of you listening uh probably were there. Uh, and there was a lot of discussion on the VIP night about scaling. I was kind of hot seat coaching different tables and talking about scaling and franchising. And um, you know, people are always curious because the company that I have founded, Door Gurus, is a franchise system, a mobile, so it runs out of a vehicle and it's trades, it's a subtrade, it's in repairing uh residential doors, and people find it very fascinating that this is what I do, that I'm the founder of this uh franchise system, and they ask, and so I mean it's doors, right? So people are like, it's doors, they're boring. I know I say that all the time. Doors are boring. But here's the thing the door industry is an extremely profitable industry, and those who are in it know it. Um, anyway, and so you know, my husband and I have this big long history. He spent his life in a door company uh with his family. And when we retired and went through some transitions ourselves, uh trying to find a way to kind of build legacy in a way that honored both of us and our experiences in life. And um we, you know, I ended up, I've always wanted um, I love big organizations and I love helping people. And my husband loves uh helping people make money, and doors have changed our life, the wealth that comes from that. Anyway, so here I find myself the CEO and co-founder of a franchise system about doors, uh, repairing doors. And as I was at the event talking about all of that, so I almost at every table, someone asked me this question, and I thought it was a really good conversation piece. That's why I wanted to jump on and record today and share it with you guys. So the question was this yeah, but are you passionate about doors? And for me, the answer is no, I am not passionate about doors. But what I am passionate about is helping people, and I'm passionate about helping people change their story, their narrative, change their ability to generate wealth and change their family's generational wealth story. I'm passionate about building a team that wants to build something epic that they find themselves growing and challenging themselves and growing to new heights. I'm passionate about all that. I'm passionate about the people, and that's why I'm passionate about doors. It's not the doors themselves, it's about the people it requires in order to succeed at the vision. And that, you know, it could be doors, it could be ice cream, it was um pet health food, it was children's dance wear, it used to be social work. For me, it doesn't matter what the vehicle is, it's about the people, and that's what I'm super passionate about. And the conversation, or I guess the question I want you to ponder, because I think this is a I want to go on the record and say, and don't come at me, but I wonder if this is like um a uh female thing about you know, doing what you're passionate about and making impact. And a lot of times I find female entrepreneurs kind of sacrifice the profit part or the revenue part and kind of take this like, yes, but I'm doing what I'm passionate about, which is totally fine. I'm not saying don't do something you're not passionate about, but what I'm saying uh is or what the challenge is, is what is it you are really passionate about? That's the question. Because I can tell you this my husband is super passionate about doors. Like, he cannot go an entire conversation with a stranger or anyone without bringing up doors. He is so passionate about doors, which is why he's great in as the subject matter expert, because he is passionate about that. I am passionate about the people associated with the doors. So that makes me good at building the franchise, helping the entrepreneurs build their life and wealth, helping uh the team grow the team, all those kinds of things. And so together we make this great pair. So, my question to you is what are you really passionate about? Are you really passionate about the end service that you're delivering, that customer fulfillment? Where is that fulfillment being done? And is that what you're most passionate about? Or are you most passionate about the people and what about the people? Because this can help you gain some clarity for what your role should be and how you want to build out a business that supports you. Of course, unless of course you like the one, you know, the one-to-one model. I'm a franchiser, so I'm a one-to-many model. I feel like the one-to-one model is um exhausting and it's limiting. And so for me, I don't like those two things in anything that I do. Um, so for me, I'm always a one-to-many. How does this work? One-to-many. But I thought it was just a really good question and a really good question for you to bring to the work that you do. If you are finding yourself struggling with revenue versus, you know, how can I build this business to meet the revenue I would like it to provide me or whoever it's providing or whatever it's providing for? How can I build that in a way while still honoring what I'm passionate about, but maybe not the one doing all of the fulfillment? You know, that's a different way of staying connected to passion and not compromising revenue. Anyway, it was just something, a conversation that kept coming up for me. And I thought, oh, this is really curious. And I started to use it. I started to use this as a conversation. I'm going to use it as a social uh post as well, uh, because that is always the question. Hey, uh, but are you passionate about doors? The answer is no. Uh, but I am passionate about people and I love helping people grow. I love helping people take the next step in whatever their journey is to really experience uh a new way, a new life, a new what do you call that, a new path? That's the word I'm looking for. Sorry. Words can be hard sometimes. Anyway, so that's my question to you today, Bestie. What are you most passionate about? And how can you not compromise your revenue dreams and still stay connected to your passion? And I would love to hear your responses. You can DM me on Instagram, that's where I hang out or LinkedIn, or you can send me an email. Uh, either way, all of the um contact will be in the show notes. Until next time.
